Generate awareness and reduce stigma associated with addiction.

Develop human resources and capacity.
Provide community-based services and rehabilitation.
Devise comprehensive guidelines and programs.
Address all forms of drug abuse and mitigate their effects.
Drug Abuse Scenario in India:
India's geographical location makes it susceptible to narcotics trafficking.
Estimated 6 million people require intervention due to opioid consumption.
School children are falling prey to narcotics and other substances.
Commonly abused substances: heroin, ganja, hashish, opium, pharmaceutical drugs.
Socio-economic challenges: law and order, health, economic potential, emotional well-being, family life disruption.
International treaties and conventions signed by India to combat drug abuse.
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act enacted in 1985 to criminalize drug-related activities.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan:
Launched in 272 districts most affected by the drug problem.
Implemented interventions similar to NAPDDR.
Duration: August 2020 to March 2021.
