This treaty provoked deep and enduring anger in Germany, many on the Allied side correctly predicted that the perceived harshness of the treaty would fuel Germany resentment.
Give up 13 percent of its territory.
Reduce its army to a mere 100 000 men, reduce its navy to six battleships, and give up its Air Force completely.

The republic was never fully accepted by many German people.
German empire was now replaced by a democracy know as the Weimar Republic.
Many Germans wrongly believed they had not really lost the war on battlefield.
The Weimar government was made worse by the economic turmoil that Germany suffered for years after the war.
