Consequences of the Treaty
Conflict in the Ruhr
BY 1921 Germany stopped paying reparations so French and Belgian soldiers entered the Ruhr and took raw materials and goods. This was legal
Hyperinflation
This was disastrous. Germany ordered workers to strike the French then killed over 100 workers and expelled 100,000 protesters from the region. Germany now had no goods to trade
Political violence
In November 1923 Hitler started a rebellion known as the Munich Putsch but was defeated
Right wing opponents of Eberts government did not want the treaty. A group of ex soldiers called the freikoprs led by Wolfgang App had an uprising and tried to install an nationalist government. The app putsch was defeated by a general strike by Berlin workers which paralysed services like power and transport.

problems were self inflicted like the kaiser not raising taxes to pay for the war during it and they had allowed debts to stack too much
