Blair also intervened in the civil war in Sierra Leone, originally troops were sent to evacuate british citizens as rebel forces approached the capital, however they stayed and helped the UN peacekeepers to establish government control.
Kososvo
Serbian forces had started a full invasion of the region of Kosovo and started committing atrocities
Blair was able get get Bill Clinton to support military action against Kosovo through a bombing campaign, forcing MIlosevic to withdraw from Kosovo

After the 9/11 attacks preparations began to invade afghanistan as this was were al-qaeda were based
The invasion happened on the 7th of october 2001 and was supported by both the UN and NATO and the taliban government as well as al-qaeda were quickly dislodged
However progress towards establishing a stable central government failed, and the taliban had regrouped by 2006/2007. The war in iraq also diverted needed resources away from afghanisatan.
European relations B
Blair was strongly in favour of closer relationships with europe and attempted to intergrate britian more throughouly into the EU
However Gordon Brown was more opposed the closer integration into europe
Blair thought that the EU could be mobilised to play a big deal in the issues of the day
International aid, particularly in africa

However progress on this was slow
Peace process in Israel/palestine as well as towards Iran
He was able to develop good relationship with the leaders of europe such as Angela Merkel in germany and president Sarkozy in France
Also had good relations with the leaders of "new europe".
The Lisbon treaty was an effort to reform the institutions of the EU an make them ready for the influx of many different eastern european nations. agreed to by the end of 2007
However this treaty was a compromise after proposals for a new constitution were rejected.
Treaty of Nice was signed in 2001 which made immigration into a EU wide issue.

In 2007 Bulgaria and romania joined the EU
Blair brought europe into the social chapter and attempted to join the Euro, however this was unpopular at home and opposed by Gordon Brown, who set up a series of near impossible tests
