vacuole - contains cell sap, membrane is called tonoplast, maintains pressure in cells, stops wilting, isolation of unwanted chemicals
cell wall - cellulose, chitin for fungi, supports and prevents cell changing shape
RER - system of membranes, covered with ribosomes, folds and processes proteins
SER - no ribosomes, synthesises and processes lipids
ribosome - floats free or joined to RER, made of proteins and RNA, site where proteins are made
lysosome - contains digestive enzymes, lysozymes, digest invading cells or break down old cell components
golgi vesicle - small fluid filled sac produced by golgi body, stores and transports proteins and lipids
golgi body - fluid filled sacs, processes and packages lipids and proteins, makes lysosomes
chloroplast - double membrane, thylakoid membranes, grana, lamellae, site of photosynthesis, in grana and stroma
mitochondria - double membrane, inner forms cristae, matrix, site of aerobic respiration
nucleus - surrounded by nuclear envelope with pores, has chromosomes, nucleolus, controls cell activity, pores allow substances to move, nucleolus makes ribosomes
cell membrane - made of lipids & proteins, regulates movement of substances in and out, has receptors to respond to hormones
