OPHTHALMIC DRUGS
MECHANISM OF ACTION
b) this drug is a miotic agent the works by constricting the pupil which increase outflow of aqueous humor.
a) Timolol is a beta-blocker that reduces pressure in the eye by decreasing the production of aqueos humor.
INDICATIONS
b) this drug is the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. also used to treat uveitis.
a) it is used to treat ophthalmic conditions such as glaucoma and ocular hypertension. in glaucoma it reduces the pressure in the eyes which usually prevents loss of vision. in ocular hypertension it prevents the pressure in the affected eye from becoming too high

SIDE EFFECTS
b) blurred vision, burning of eyes, redness and irritation of the eye.
a) the common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, dry eyes, allergic reaction like hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling in face, lips and throat.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
a) it should not be given to patients who are allergic to it or any beta-blockers, not given to patients with certain heart conditions, not given to patients with severe asthma and pregnant & breastfeeding patients.
b) it must not be given to patients who have narrow-angle glaucoma as it cause a dangerous increase in eye pressure, not used in patients with asthma or any conditions of breathing.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION

a) applied directly to the eye, wash hands thoroughly before applying.
STORAGE CONDITION
b) stored at room temp and away from direct heat and moisture, store in refrigerator between 36-46 degrees Celsius
a) stored in a cool dark place and at temp of 15-30 degrees Celsius. must be protected from freezing and from light.
