1 Stages of acquisition
-
-
Telegraphic stage
Stringing more than a couple of words together, although still content based with omission of functional morphology (e.g. null subject stage); ~18-36 months

3 The role of UG in phonological development: although languages vary in their syllable types, all syllables generally conform to the Sonority Hierarchy
The Sonority Hierarchy: the least sonorant segments are on the periphery of the syllable, with progressively more sonorant segments towards the nucleus
-
Sonority: a measure of acoustic energy: the less obstruction there is in the vocal tract, the more sonorant a phone is
Early language reflects a sensitivity to sonority, for example in consonant cluster reductions, the least sonorant consonant is kept, and when children start producing CC clusters, they adhere to the sonority hierarchy

1 What is acquired?
Components of language acquisition: lexicon, grammar, pragmatics
Child language is not a degenerate form of adult language, but is systematic and has different grammars at different stages which characterise their language; this is why they are impervious to correction, because they are following their own set of rules
