The Cell Cycle - Coggle Diagram
The Cell Cycle
Stages
Metaphase
Metaphase
Chromosomes align in the middle of the cell
Anaphase
Chromatids are pulled to opposite ends of the cell
Prophase
Condenses DNA and separates centrioles in the chromosomes
Telophase
Nuclei reform around the chromosomes
Cytokinesis
Splits the two cells apart
Interphase
G1
The first stage. Checks whether cell is fully grown.
S
The second stage. Duplicated DNA
G2
Checks whether any cells are defective.
Tumors
Benign
Caused by irregular cell growth, but doesn't do anything
Malignant
Caused by fast cell growth
Tumor Suppressor Gene mutation
This gene prevents tumor growth, but mutations can cause cancer growth
Proto-oncogene mutation
This gene keeps the cell cycle going. Mutations cause the cell cycle to keep going non-stop.
