B & T CELLS - Coggle Diagram
B & T CELLS
STAGES:
lymphoid stem cells
b-lymphocytes
plasma cells
antibodies (immunoglobulins)
5 heavy chains and 2 light chains
IgA: ascend to mucus membrane; ex. tears, saliva, vagina, breast milk, etc
IgD: produced by naive B cells, along with IgM; maybe responsible for antigen recognition
IgM: big (pentamer); cannot pass though placenta; complement; responsible for first response
IgE: role in allergies & anaphylactic shock; parasites
IgG: small (monomer); pass through placenta; opsonization & complement; responsible for secondary response; most abundant; has antibacterial/antitoxin/antiviral functions
memory b cells
t-lymphocytes
foreign invader
piece of invader
(antigen)
APC cell:
dendrite, macrophage, b-cell
lymphocyte
t-cell
destroy
b-cell
plasma cell
antigen
memory
DEFINITIONS:
anitgen: substance that stimulates immune system
antigen-antibody complex:
antibodies: secreted by plasma cells
2 light chains
2 heavy chains
hinge
disulfide bonds: connects chains
constant part: where cell binds; where macrophage binds
variable part: where the distinctions are, where antigen binding site is
HUMORAL IMMUNITY: b-cells
bone marrow; where b cells are produced and mature
b cells
plasma cells
memory b cells
CELLULAR IMMUNITY:
cell-mediated;
t cells
thymus: where t cells mature
t helper:
t reg: prevents t cytotoxic from destroying own cells
t cytotoxic; destroys cancerous or virus-infected cells
