Mitosis
-

-
Telophase
The separation of the genetic information, and the nucleus barrier reappears, but around each part of new genetic information.
-
Interphase
DNA is in the form of uncondensed chromatin and within the nucleus. Centrosomes and other organelles that are needed are duplicated. Cell has been enlarged in preparation for division.
Cell Cycle
G1 (Gap 1)
G0 (Rest phase)
No growth or division. There are some cells, such as neurons, that stay in this stage forever.
-
S (Synthesis)
DNA replication occurs, cells stay in this stage until the cyclins and CDKs move it to the next stage.
G2 (Gap 2)
DNA is duplicated, production of microtubles and the other proteins needed for the cell to divide.
M (Mitosis)
Chromosome separation, cytokinesis occurs.
Cancer-causing Genes
-
DNA repair genes
At the checkpoints, this gene searches for mistakes in the DNA and fixes the ones it can.

Checkpoints
G1 checkpoint
Checks for: cell size, nutrients, growth factors, DNA damage.
G2 checkpoint
Checks for: DNA damage, DNA replication completeness.
