Jistine is blamed for Williams Murder (her younger adopted brother) due to having with hold Williams Pendant.
She is then executed for the accusations and found guilty - sentanced to be hanged.
Actually commited by the monster
Young girl adopted into the Frankienstein household while Victor is growing up.
Innocent
Goodness personified: she is happy, kind, beautiful, loving and innocent.
she is framed by the monster, planting a locket on her when she was asleep in a barn.
Even though she is innocent she confesses so that she can achieve absolution (Gods forgiveness). Not go to hell for the crime.
'I did confess, but I confessed a lie. I confessed, that I might obtain absolution; but
now that falsehood lies heavier at my heart than all my other sins'
'The God of heaven forgive me!'
No character believes that she is capable of such a crime, yet she is found guilty and hanged anyway.
Her death weighs on heavily on Victor, who probably could hav prevented it by speaking up about the creature.
Vulnerable
Her character is young, female, an orphan, obedient and
deeply
religious
Feels pressured to confess to a crime she didn't commit so that she is able to avoid going to hell.
Elizabeth is the only one who stands up for Justine during her trial which puts her in even more of a vulnerable position.
'the poor sufferer'
Victor views Justine as an object of pity.
suggests he also feels some level of guilt for the part he has played in her death. However, he remains silent as he doesnt want to be frowned upon.
Caring/Selfless
'Thus the
poor sufferer
tried to comfort others and herself. She indeed gained the resignation she desired.'
Their belief brings her cofort and she then focuses on cormfotring them by reasuring them that she doesnt fear death because she trusts God to also recognise her innocence.
