Types of Angels (Found in Polygons or Polygon questions)
Angels on a Straight Line = 180 degrees
Complementary angles
Complementary angles are two angles that add up to 90°. In the figure at the right, ∠a and ∠b are complementary. Two angles need not be adjacent to be complementary.
Sum of Angels in Triangle = 180 degrees
Angels at a point = 360 degrees
Vertically Opposite Angles (both of the angles are equal)
Alternate angles of parallel lines (both the angles are equal)
Only when AB parallel to CD
Corresponding Angles on Parallel Lines (the angles are equal)
Interior Angles of Parallel Lines
Sum of both the Angles = 180 degrees
angle sum of a quadrilateral (four sided shape) = 360 degrees
exterior angle of triangle = Sum of 2 interior opposite angles (in the triangle)
Base angles of isosceles triangle (the angles are equal)
Angles of an Equilateral Triangle are equal to each other and are always 60 degrees in value (one angle = 60 degrees)
Different Types of Polygons and their Properties
Squares
Parallel sides: AD and BC, AB and DC.
Equal sides: AX, DX, BX and CX. AD, CD, CB and BA
Interior angles: either 90 degrees or 45 degrees. 4 corner angles add up to 360 degrees
Diagonals: DB and AC
Rectangles
Interior Angles: 4 equal at 90º all angles add up to 360º
Equal Sides: 2 (Sides AB, DC and AD, BC)
Parallel Sides: 2 Pairs (Lines AB, DC and AD, BC)
Diagonals: 2 lines bisecting at equal lengths
Parallelogram
diagonals: 2 diagonals bisect each other at X
interior angles: opposite angles are equal
equal sides: 2 pairs of equal sides, AD=BC and AB=DC
parallel sides: 2 pairs of equal sides, AB-DC and AD-BC
Rhombus
parallel sides: 2 pairs of equal sides, AB-DC and AD-BC
equal sides: 2 pairs of equal sides, AD=BC and AB=DC
interior angles: opposite angles are equal
diagonals: 2 diagonals bisect each other at X
Kite
no parallel sides
