- - - - Before 1536 : Wales, Scotland and England = war time :crossed_swords: 1536 : Act of Union between Wales and England. 1707 : Scotland join the Union -> Great Britain (thanks England :) so nice). 1801 : Ireland join the Union, but 1922 : Irish war of independence, won by them.         Conflict is continuing in 70's and 80's. IRA assassinate Lord
        Mountbatten in 1979, close friend of the Royal Family and bombed an Hotel in 1984. But Irish Party saw a more political way to end this deadly conflict...
        Ceasefires between 1994 and 1997, but failed, bc not respected. 1997 : firsts negociations. 1998 : Belfast Agreement -> END OF THE CONFLICT.
      - A. The “Troubles” in Northern Ireland :speaking_head_in_silhouette:
        
        Don't know when war started, but creat° of Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) against IRA's rebirth in Northern Ireland during 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising = beginning.
        UVF destroyed Catholics buildings. IRA fought back with Austin
        Currie ( member of Parliament, nationalist) and peaceful demonstrat°. They were attacked by Protestants Royalists, and police, which was on their side, didn't do anything (bad cop :cop::skin-tone-2::red_cross:).
        1972 : most violent year. IRA bombings all around UK, UVF killing Catholics. Worst event : "Bloody Sunday". 14 nationalists killed by British Forces (damn).
- - - - No Parliament in Scotland : was dissolved by UK. Evo after Tony Blair's elect° as Prime Minister in 1997. Wanted things to change. Made by the main political party in Scotland : Scotish National Party, created in 1934. Represented for the first time in 1967.
        The party wanted a power decentralizat° -> Devolut°. 1st referundum for devolut° in Scotland in 1979 -> failed. 2nd one in 1997 succeeded (hurray :clap::skin-tone-2:). 2 quest° were asked :
        -Do you agree that there should be a Scottish Parliament? :thinking_face: (hard) -> 74,3% of yes
        -Do you agree that a Scottish Parliament should have tax-varying powers? :thinking_face: (very hard) -> 63,5% of yes.
        Consequences : reapparit° of Scottish Parliament ; power to vote taxes.
        1998 : Scotland Act. First sess° of the new Parliament in 1999.
    - - 1st Scottish Prime minister : Donald Dewar, leader of Labour Party which made an alliance with Liberal Democrats. SNP had the majority in 2011 (69 seats of the 129 seats in total). Propose an independence referundum in 2014 which was approved by London government but rejected by citizens. Resignat° of Alex Salmon, leader of the SNP. He was pround of those who voted for independence.
        Nicola Sturgeon : 1st female Prime Minister. Continue the fight for independence. Propose a 2nd referunfum for independence, only after Brexit.
        2017 : SNP lost places -> only 35 seats in the Westminster Parliament. 2019 : more places won. Sturgeon wants a transfer of powers that can help the referundum, but for Johnson, it's a bad move for the political side, which can cause stagnat°.
        Scottish nationalism is growing after Brexit. Lot of scottish were against it. Resisting against another referundum will be difficult.
