The Cratchits
Dickens uses the large Cratchit family to show the struggles of the poor during the Victorian era. Bob Cratchit, the father, is a lower class working man who tries his best at his work to be paid fairly by his harsh employer Scrooge. Although they are shown to be struggling financially, they're love and family helps them keep their moral values and remain kind and generous.
Ignorance and Want
Ignorance and Want are the 'children of humanity' and emerge from under the cloak of the Ghost of Christmas Present. They are shown to be thin and animalistic to show the poor health and injustice of poverty within society. They represent "man's children" as they highlight the effects of child slavery within the Victorian period.
Scrooge
Scrooge refuses to give money to the poor when the charities ask for donations. Even though Scrooge has plenty of money for himself, he is miserly and will not spend or share it. This is strange as he was shown to be from a lower class family and was a victim to child slavery.
