The Raatz family is a subsystem that falls under a suprasystem which is made up of the extended family.
Mostly Gerry’s siblings, Monica’s Children
The Raatz family consists of 5 members : Father( Brad) , Mother(Gerry) , Granny( Monica) ,Oldest Son(Jared) and Youngest Daughter (Ashleigh).
-
Monica is the eldest but submits to Gerry and Brad. Jared is a young adult and follows the instruction of the matured Adults. Ashleigh is the youngest and submits to the elders.
Brad is the head of the household and makes all the final decisions . Gerry submits to Brads leadership but Monica , Jared and Ashleigh follow Brads instructions through Gerry’s communication.
Brads protects the household, he also maintains the property and sets boundaries for the family.
Gerry provides emotional and financial support while maintaining the interior of the house and stocking up the pantry.
Monica cooks and cleans for the household, she also provides support to Gerry and Ashleigh.
Jared looks after the animals and aids Brad in protecting/maintaining the property
Ashleigh helps Monica in the kitchen and helps Gerry with household errands.
-
Before Brad did not know how to maintain the property or set boundaries with his family , no he does it with ease and has delegated tasks to Jared who too could not care for the property.
Gerry struggled managing finances and often needed guidance on how to do grocery shopping for the family, she now has structures in place which helps her every month with budgeting.
Jared is now able to clean the garden and feed the animals all by himself without Brads supervision.
Ashleigh can cook and clean for herself where as in the past she needed guidance from Monica and Gerry.

The Raatz Family openly communicates constantly, they believe communication is important and will have “family meetings “ regularly. If any of the children have a problem with the household dynamics they will speak to Gerry and Gerry will convey the message to Brad. The family tries to implement changes in behaviour and environment if Brad receives the concerns. No change will be made if Gerry does not carry the message across to Brad.
The family achieves negative entropy by sticking to the rules that Brad enforces and by respecting each other’s space and personal belongings. Rules include knocking on doors before entering, asking permission before inviting guests, no borrowing belongings without asking and no slamming doors. When these things are respected and honoured the household stay’s peacefull.
When equilibrium is lost the family has a dialogue about the issue and quickly rectifies it by apologising and forgiving
