cheats on Sheila with Eva and takes responsibility for cheating on her but not his involvement in her death

Gerald meets Eva in the Palace Bar and offers her a place to stay for a few months whilst his friend is away. He takes responsibility after ending their relationship by giving her money

Eric forces himself on Eva, lack of responsibility and shows gender as he is empowering over Eva
Eva is Gerald's mistress until he abandons her but his use of emotive language shows the audience that he feels sorry for her and wanted to help
Mrs. Birling
capitalist
doesn't take responsibility when Eva comes to get help from her committee because Eva uses the name 'Mrs. Birling'
Generation Gap
The younger generation take responsibility for their actions as they know they are in the wrong but Mr and Mrs Birling stick to their old ways and don't take responsibility as they can't see the wrong in what they've done
Family Life
upper-class, snobby family so taking responsibility for being involved in the death of a lower-class girl won't matter to the parents but it matters to Sheila and Eric because they know their parents won't change their opinions on the lower-class
