Discovery
Trypanosoma was 1st isolated from the blood of the steamboat captain on the Gambia river in 1901 ( hence called gambiense ) by Frode Dutton in 1902 , proposed the name Trypanosoma gambiense
Robert Michael Forde was the first to find the parasite in human .
" Stephen and Fantham" discovered T.brucei rhodosiense in 1910 from the blood of the patient Rhodesia suffering from Sleeping sickness:

Trypomastigote
- Exhibit in 3 forms
- Spindle shape , Long slender- - Have flagellum - 20 × 3 micrometer ( l × b ) .
- Short stumpy - 1 without flagellum ( no free flagella ) - 10× 5 micrometer ( l× b ).
- Intermediate ( Epimastigote) - has a central nucleus .
