Physics and Chemistry
ATOM
What is it?
Smallest particle that composes a chemical element. It can’t be broken down.Impossible to see as they are too small to make light bump on their surface
ELEMENT
COMPOUND
What is it?
Substances formed by chemically combining two or more elements, however, you cannot vary the amount of each element in the compound. In order to separate them, you would need a chemical reaction.
MIXTURE
What is it?
Substances that are formed by physically mixing two or more substances. These are not chemically bonded together, and when creating the mixture, you can vary the amount of each substance.
What is it?
Simplest chemical substance made up by groups of particular atoms with the same amount of protons. Found in the periodic table.
TYPES
-
Metal
Located in the middle, bottom, and left side of the periodic table.
Atom Structure
Neutrons
Located in the nucleus, neutral energy, mass of 1
Protons
Located in the nucleus, positive energy, mass of 1
Electrons
Located in the shells, negative energy, mass near to 0

STATES OF MATTER
-
LIQUID
No definite shape (takes the shape of its container). Has definite volume. Particles are free to move over each other, but are still attracted to each other.
GASES
Matter in a state in which it will expand freely to fill the whole of a container, having no fixed shape and no fixed volume
Periodic table
A chart where all the different elements are arranged. Provides information about the elements depending on their position in it.
