One of the key tools that played a pivotal role in my assignment was Canva. Initially, I found myself hesitant about using an online-only platform. However, as I delved into it, the user-friendly interface became a pleasant surprise. The transition from calling slides to decks felt a bit peculiar at first, but it soon became second nature. Exploring the plethora of design templates opened up a world of creative possibilities. Adding animations to pages, objects, and photos, along with seamless transitions between pages, enhanced the overall visual appeal of my presentation. The incorporation of moving graphics added a dynamic touch, bringing life to the content. Learning how to record a video directly within the slides proved to be a valuable skill, adding a personal touch to my presentation.
On the technical side, dealing with recording equipment presented its own set of challenges. My low-quality webcam prompted me to explore alternatives, leading me to use my phone camera. The absence of a tripod didn't deter me; instead, I improvised with a makeshift tripod using a wash basket. Overcoming the issue of inadequate lighting, I strategically placed a lantern in front to illuminate the scene. Tackling a messy room, I employed software to filter the background and replaced it with a static image. The challenge of self-consciousness and stammering during speaking led to multiple takes, and to address the lack of eye contact, I adjusted the camera and screen positions to create a more engaging visual presence. The incorporation of a teleprompter helped mitigate memory lapses during the recording process.
Researching information on plastic marine proved to be another learning curve. Encountering articles that were initially inaccessible led me to the discovery of OUM library services. Actively participating in library workshops provided insights into effective article retrieval. The breakthrough came with the realization of database access, finally allowing me to retrieve the articles I needed.
Uploading the final product to YouTube was a straightforward yet crucial step. Naming the video, crafting a meaningful description, and making decisions about public or private links added the finishing touches. Despite facing challenges like lower video quality, the satisfaction of completion overshadowed any reservations. Generating a YouTube link marked the successful conclusion of this phase.
Balancing work, study, family, and religious commitments demanded effective time management. Juggling a role as a DevOps professional for a Vietnamese company alongside the demands of the assignment required meticulous planning. Filling the gaps between work with dedicated study and writing sessions allowed for a steady progression. Allocating time for family and attending the mosque added a sense of balance to my routine. Breaking down the assignment into manageable steps and dedicating a couple of days to each phase facilitated a smooth workflow.
In conclusion, this assignment went beyond being a mere academic task; it was a journey of self-discovery and skill enhancement. The amalgamation of technical challenges, creative exploration, and effective time management has not only shaped my digital presentation skills but also fostered personal growth. As I submit my assignment, I carry with me not just a file but a collection of experiences that will undoubtedly influence my future endeavors.
