1.4.1 Communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Verbal is your ability to talk to someone and the it is good for showing your confidence level 40% of communication is non-verbal.
Eye contact is important because it shows that you are engaged in the conversation. It can also show a lack of confidence if you look away to quickly.
Body language is important because it is the main thing that conveys your state of mind. This is through whether you hold yourself up or slouch or have open or closed posture.
Questioning techniques
Open questioning allows for more creative answers because they are designed to allow for a range of answers. These are especially important in interviews because they test knowledge.
Closed questions are designed so that there is a limited amount of answers that can be given. This is also a decent test of knowledge and also if you know what you are looking for you can tell if they are guessing
Probing questions are a question that is used after either of the other question types so that the interviewers are able to ask further knowledge of a question or try and get justification of an answer.
Language
Formal language is used in formal communication so that it can be used in court or on legal documents.
Informal is used for people to be able to communicate without having to worry about it being used in court.
Technical language is sued to make conversation more conveniently.
Non-technical is used so that people not inside the industry can understand what is going on.
Verbal
Meetings are the main form of large scale of verbal communication so that everybody is able to understand what is going on in the company.
Telephone is used as a direct form of communication and it gets rid of all the non-verbal contact.
Group discussions is the less formal form of a meeting so that people with the same interests are able to communicate.
Written
Memo is so that there can be a wide spread version of written communication that can be used to spread information around the company.
Report is used to report to upper management and this is important because it is used as the main form of information representation.
Letters are a direct form of communication that is just a less effective email.
The email is a letter that can be sent instantly and is used by the company to be sent to everybody at the same time.
Social networking is the thing that can be used by the person or the company so that people or the company is able to communicate directly for free.
Document layout policies ensure that documents can be used legally an officerly.
