Viruses - A programme hidden inside another with the intention of causing harm to the computer system
Brute force - Where you try all password combinations until you find the right one
Phishing - Emails that trick people into sending personal details
Trojan - a type of malware that downloads onto a computer disguised as a legitimate program.
Network Security
Authentication - Confirms that the user is who they say they are e.g biometrics, voice recognition
Encryption - Disguising a word so only the intended user can read e.g Caesar Cipher, Morse code
Firewall - A software which blocks unexpected connections coming into or out of a network
MAC address filtering -, Where unexpected devices are blocked from entering
Types of network
WAN - Wide Area Network (schools, universities)
LAN - Local Area Network (for people in a house)
PAN - Personal Area Network (for use of one person)
