Atomic Orbitals
The basic building blocks of the atomic orbital model, a description of where an electron can be found.

-
Negative Charge
If an atom has more electrons than protons, then the net charge of that atom will be negative.
-
Ions
-
Cations
An ion with a positive charge, which means it has more protons than electrons.
Anions
An ion with a negative charge, meaning it has more electrons than protons.
-
Neutron
A subatomic particle that has a mass nearly equal to that of a proton, but it carries no electric charge.
Neutral
If there are equal numbers of protons and electrons in the atom, then the atom will be neutral(no charge).
Mass Number
The sum of the atomic number/number of protons, and neutrons in the nucleus.
