Acids and alkalis

Neutralisation is the type of reaction that happens when an acid reacts with a base/alkali resulting in the formation of water

Salts

Carbonate ions are tested for in unknown solutions by adding an acid and if CO2 is given off then they are present

To make a soluble salt you heat the acid and add a base until no more dissolves, the acid is neutralised when excess solid sinks to the bottom. this excess is then filtered ad the salt solution is heated to evaporate the water. The rest is then left to evaporate slowly to form salt crystals
Titration
Titration is a process in which 2 solutions both of known volume 1 of known concentration, react. the values can be used to calculate the missing concentration
A burette is used to release small, measured volumes of a reactants
