Quetions? Ask me (0811 9708 708)
GSL
Opening Speech, Done in the first minutes of the Committee Session
Moderated Caucus
Formal debate, a delegate
must raise their
placard if they want
to raise a motion
If delegates want to debate on the motion that is raised, then they will agree and raise their placards. If they don't, then don't raise your placards
Your material in a Mod Caucus should be relevant to the topic that the delegates have agreed on.
EXAMPLE: Topic = Discussing possible solutions to the topic
Then talk about possible solutions to the topic, dont talk about other things that arent relevant.
The amount of delegates in a ModCauc
10 minutes : 1 minute -> 10 delegates
15 minutes : 1 minute -> 15 delegates
15 minutes : 1.30 minutes -> 10 delegates
20 minutes : 1 minute -> 20 delegates
18 minutes : 1.30 minutes -> 15 delegates
Unmoderated Caucus
A delegate can only raise a motion for a Unmod if 2 ModCaucs have been raised
An Unmod is an informal debate, delegates can roam around and talk to other delegates and discuss about solutions, problems, etc.
Try to be as proactive and contributing to the discussions, dont be on the sidelines.
In an Unmod, find out which delegates are aligned with your cause and your visions, and try to collaborate as much as possible with them. Accommodate their solutions alongside your own.
Chairs are still going to pay attention to Unmods, so dont think that its free time to play games, scroll IG, etc
Unmod Times: It can be however long you want, but the maximum is usually 20 minutes.
You can ask for an extension of the Unmod, but then the max is 10 minutes.
BE CREATIVE AND YOU CANT BE ANSOS, SOCIALIZE WITH DELEGATES
All delegates must speak in a GSL, so always prepare it
Make the GSL relevant to the topic and the committee session
The GSL should consist of things you want to tell to the council, and it can be about anything you want, but preferably make it relevant.
You can talk about the history of the topic, the problems from the topic, etc etc
Lets say you have left over time, you can either give the time to the chairs or you can give the time to other delegates, or you can give time for questions
Working Paper
A working paper can only be written after the cahirs say your allowed to start on it
A working paper is a document with the delegates that you've collaborated with about the progress and the current solutions you have. It doesn't have to be complete, it just needs to make sense and needs to include the things you've talked about in a ModCauc and an Unmod.
Later delegate will present the Working Paper in front of the council.
Draft Resolution
The Draft Resolution can only be worked on if the chairs say that youre allowed to
A draft resolution is the formal document that delegates in a bloc are focused on working on. It is the end goal for a council and an MUN.
There are 2 main roles in a draft reso:
Sponsors -> Delegates who are leaders of the bloc and want to present the DR in front of the council
Signatories -> Delegates who agree with the Draft Resolution. Signatories don't have to agree with only 1 DR, you can agree with various.
Sponsors can only sponsor their own DR.
Usually there are only 2 sponsors.
DR Example
Chairs will notice how much contribution you did to the Working Paper
