Idea C (Duelling game)
Theme
Game themed to bounty hunters
Allows for more variety than just a western themed game
Combat
Fights have two phases
Prep Phase
Shooting Phase
In this phase the player prepares their weapons by loading different types of bullets into them
The player can also choose to either use a defensive ability that can help them dodge of block damage or an offensive ability
The player can complete one action every turn
This can be shooting a gun or melee attacking
Both the player and enemies die very quickly, so the player should aim to defeat enemies on their first turn
Weapons all have multiple attacks
For example the revolver can shoot a single bullet with high accuracy and damage or all 6 bullets for low accuracy but more damage overall
The player should choose bullets and attacks in the prep phase based on the enemies block and dodge stats
Block
The block value is subtracted from every hit
Dodge
Like the dodge in darkest dungeon, the chance to dodge an attack and take no damage
Accuracy is the percentage chance bullets have to hit (like in darkest dungeon)
Character Ideas
Gunslinger
Cowboy themed bounty hunter
Has the choice to fire a single accurate bullet or fire every loaded bullet
Heavy focus on dodging and lowering enemy accuracy
Bowman
High single shot damage
The player can create poison builds with this character
Focusses on applying status effects that skip enemy turns and lower their accuracy
Comes in the form of different arrows
Bomber
Missed or dodged attacks deal splash damage
Can place mines to counter melee attacks
High defence but low dodge chance
Has access to homing ammo that never misses
Sniper
Terrible dodge chance and defence
Shield drone is his only way to negate damage
High accuracy and crit chance, low damage
Can lower shield to gain 100% grit chance
Procedural generation
Targets show up on the map of a planet
These are the bounties the player must take out
Similar system to that of into the breach
After a few encounters the player can visit the hub area to buy upgrades
Once a certain amount of targets are killed the player can take on the ultimate bounty (a boss) to beat the run
Stronger targets will give better rewards but pose more of a threat
Progression will be similar to dicey dungeons with short runs and multiple modes with altered gameplay
UI will be placed bellow the the area gameplay takes place in - like darkest dungeon
Will show the player their bullets and weapons as well as enemy stats
Status effects
Poison - Reduces accuracy and deals damage each turn
Blinded - reduces accuracy by 75%
Stunned - Miss a turn
Cracked - Shield has no effect
Environmental threats
Sand storm
Reduces accuracy (items like infrared scopes negate sand storms)
Clear Sky - accuracy of all guns is 100%
Ice storms -cannot dodge
The player will roll dice to determine what bullets they load or what effects defensive equipment will have
The bullets that get loaded will be determined by dice symbols
These dice will be customiseable
The player will be able to rereroll a limited amount of dice
Dice rolls are only used in the prep phase - the shooting phase still plays out as originally envisioned
Positive Status Effects
Hawkeye - Increases accuracy
Smoke bomb - 100% dodge chance
Riot Shield - increases defence
The characters are all trapped on a planet ruled by a cruel government and want to earn enough money to buy a ship - and with it their freedom
Once the player has completed every run type with a given character they can take on a final, very challenging run, if they complete this they will unlock that characters ending
Each final run will revolve around the character escaping the planet and taking on a powerful government solider (this will be a boss)
The planet is a prison in disguise, where residents are worked to death by a power-hungry government
