As we get older we might do the action that is illegal or a mistake, but the later we can fix it. It's like a step that humans are getting older and getting develop.
This quote was from early of the book when
Ponyboy and Dally had enough money but still sneaked into the movie theater. They also met Cherry in the theater.
"by then it was dark enough to sneak in over the back fence of the nightly drive-in movie" (20).
Analysis
Ponyboy experiences many life change moments in the book. He lost his parents, Johnny, and Dally. His friend Johnny killed the Socs to save Ponyboy from getting jumped.
Imagine the city has been split into the wealthy side and poor side. That city is the main theme of the book "The Outsiders". Ponyboy is on the poor side called greasers, and thinks that the wealthy side called every single Socs are infathomable, dangerous, awful. But the later, his view got changed, after thinking differently.
It was after Ponyboy saw Johnny got jumped by the Socs, and he feel the hatred against the Socs. His view about the Socs were they are jerks, gangs, very aggresive fools.
This was when the steave came towards the Two-bit and Ponyboy. Two-bit has no idea about steve and thought he was Socs but Ponyboy know he isn't.
This quote from when thte Ponyoby was describing about new character Dally. He describe him as a "No one can block him".
"Dally had spent three years on the wild side of the New York and had been arrested at the age of ten" (10).
From this scene Ponyboy and Dally knew they shouldn't do this, but the action didn't match their thinking. We understand this as the child getting tilted.
Analysis
We can find out that Dally is already lost innocence at the early age of his life. From this, either Dally can make a change by take an action that is considered good or bad.
"I had never been jumped, but I had seen Johnny after our Socs jumped on him, and it wasn't pretty" (4).
"He ain't a Soc...He's just a guy. He just wanted to talk" (118).
Early on the book Ponboy's view on the Socs was hatred and cruel. But Ponyboy's understanding and thinking got changed after Cherry said it's only a few of them, and experienced after killing a Bob. This change was pretty big because Ponyboy's hatred on Socs was badly cruel. Even whole Greasers hate Socs, and had a negative feeling about them.
Ponyboy saw Johnny get jumped and even himself was about to get jumped. So his view on Socs was getting worse and worse. He also thinks every single Socs are bad, and when Ponyboy see them, his anger and also scariness are coming out.
When Socs pulled up to the park at 3, meanwhile Johhnny and Ponyboy were together. They threate Ponyboy and Johnny and eventually they were about to jump on them. Johnny killed the Socs, name Bob to save Ponyboy.
"'I killed him," he said slowly "I killed that boy"' (56).
After Johnny killed Bob, Johnny and Ponyboy decide to go to an abandoned church. The church was located outside of the city so that no one could find them. The reason that Ponyboy went to the park was because Ponyboy and Darry fought and then Ponyboy left his home. During their life in church, they felt cold, lonely, sorrowful and later when he met with Darry and Soda, he felt safe.
When Johnny was saving children from the burning church, Johnny got injured. Johnny was taken to the hospital and got medical assistance. But unfortunately, he couldn't survive.
"I looked ta all of them, a little frightended, "Johnny... he's dead" (152).
Johnny and Ponyboy's relatioinship was more than a friend, they were sharing, helping, talking to each other. But when Johnny is not anymore in Ponyboy's life, No one can understand the Ponyboy's numbness. Losing a best friend is definitely big pain when are we living.
The time when we are in the same sunset.
