What are the different literary forms?
Poetry
A type of literary expression distinguished by rhythm, meter, and frequently rhyme.
Sonnet
: A poem consisting of 14 lines
There are 2 types (Petrarchan and Elizabeth)
Sonnet comes from the Latin word for "Sound"
Villanelle
: A poem consisting of 19 lines made up of 5 tercets and a quatrain
Tercet
is a 3 lined stanza.
Quatrain
is a stanza of 4 lines
Haiku
: poem consists of 3 lines with specific number of syllables. (first and last lines have 5 syllables and second has 7)
Originated in Japan
Prose
Writing that does not follow a meter or rhyme scheme.
Non - fiction :
This includes factual writings and real events.

CREATIVE NONFICTION - They use fictional literary techniques to present a true story.
Fiction:
Written literature that tells imaginary stories and narratives

Drama
A literary genre designed for performance, frequently incorporating conversation and action.
Plays
:dramatic works written to be performed on stage. They are heavy on dialogue and action
Opera:
A drama that is accompanied by music. The dialogues and action are presented through a song.
