Leads to loss of sensation ipsilaterally at the level, and contrallaterally below lesion
Leads to motor, and sensory loss below lesion

Visceral (Hunger, nausea, Bladder distension)

Anatomy
Anterolateral Pathway
Spinothalamic Tract: Pain, temperature, Crude touch

Dorsal Column Pathway
Vibration, Proprioception, Fine/Discriminate Touch
Synapses onto nucleus gracilis, VPL thalamus, Primary Somatosensory cortex

Thalamus
Synapse of the Sensory pathway, and each input has its area in the thalamus
Spinothalamic Tract
Starts in sensory neuron, into dorsal horn, cross to anterior commissure, and second order neuron synapses on VPM thalamus

Hemineglect
Definition
Deficit in conscious detection of contra-lesional sensory stimuli, and awarenss of contra-lesional space despite intact pathways
laerilization
Attention is typically for the right brain, so right brain will lead to severe left neglect, but left lesion will lead to minimal right neglect
Typical Lesion
Right posterior parietal, parieta-temporal lobes
Transmission
Receptor potential is generated via depolarization, greater degree of stimulation, larger the receptor potential
When excitation threshold is reached, action potential is generated

Maintained in pathway, divided by frequency of sound
Sensory Neuron
Contains cell body with one branch, and has myelin sheath to transmit energy, and will synapse on other cells within the system, cell bodies near ventral horn
