Cerebrovascular Disorder - Coggle Diagram
Cerebrovascular Disorder
-
Parts of Brain
frontal lobe- voluntary movements, memory, emotion, social judgement, decision making
parietal lobe- receiving and interpreting bodily sensations, governing of proprioceptors, the awareness of ones body and body parts in space
temporal lobe- hearing, smelling, learning, memory, emotional behavior
-
cerebellum- located begind the pons, responsible for smooth, coordinated movements
cranial nerves- arise from the brain and travel to places on the head, face, neck and shoulders
Disorders
-
atrial fibralation- another cause of ischemic stroke, in left side atrial fibrillation the left atrium is quivering and not contracting sufficiently
-
transient ischemic attack- due to a temporary loss of blood supply/flow, but unlike ischemic, these work them seleves out but can still leave the individual with damage
hemorrhagic stroke-occurs when cerebral artery ruptures and can no longer bring blood to the brain tissue.
Testing/Treatment
magnetic resonance angiography- can distinguish between cerebral hemorrhage and ischemia. can also be used to determine the presence of a clot or blockage
transcranial doppler- noninvasive ultrasound that can be used on certain areas of the skull, it is used to assess ICP, confirm lack of cerebral circulation and detect vasospasm in SAH
computerized tomography- CT scans rapidly identify or exclude hemorrhage as the etiology of the stroke
treatment for Ischemic Stroke- utilizes IV thrombolysis which dissolves the clot that is blocking arterial blood flow
treatment for Cerebral Hemorrhage- intubatioin and blood pressure reduction may be needed, in early treatment.
