Atom
Smallest particle that composes a chemical element. It can’t be broken down. They are impossible to see as they are too small to make light bump on their surface
Atomic Structure
Proton
Located in the nucleus, with positive charge, mass near to one
Neutron
Located in the nucleous, with 0 charge and mass near to one.
Electron
Located in the shells, with negative charge, mass near to zero
Periodic table
Chart where all the different elements are arranged (Provides information about the elements)
Metal
Located in the middle, bottom, and left side of the periodic table.
Non-Metal
Located on the far right side of the periodic table
Metalloids
Located on a zigzag line on the right side of the periodic table
Mixtures
Substances formed by physically mixing two or more substances (Not chemically bonded together)
States of matter
Solid, Liquid and Gas
Elements
Simplest chemical substance made up by groups of particular atoms with the same amount of protons. Found in the periodic table.
Ionic Bonds
Cations
ATOM WITH POSITIVE CHARGE
Anions
ATOM WITH NEGATIVE CHARGE
Compounds
Substances which are formed by chemically combining two or more elements,
Solutions
A homogeneous mixture (same particle pattern). One or more solutes dissolved in a solvent
Separating Solutions
Filtration, Distillation, Evaporation and Chromatography
Isotopes
each of two or more forms of the same element that contain equal numbers of protons but different numbers of neutrons
