Target audience is young girls ages 10-16.
First guide to feminism for young girls and women.
Educates girls on the importance of embracing their femininity and learning to disregard stereotypes and misogynistic opinions from external peers.
Provides me with the opportunity to experiment with book illustration which is an area of illustration I am interested in and would like to explore further.
Creating a book of illustrations allows me to strengthen my abilities as an illustrator to create a series of illustrations that symbolise the importance of feminism and embracing femininity. I will also create a front and back cover that represents the concept of feminism and femininity in an engaging format that is inclusive and comprehensive to young girls. This will challenge my skills and knowledge, as an illustrator, to create new and distinctive concepts.
Poster Design
Uplifting young girls and helping them accept themselves.
Posters that are used for raising awareness/ educating women on the negative effect of white feminism and how it is damaging for young girls that are uneducated on the concept of feminism.
Series of posters visualising the importance of feminism in society.
Posters comprised of striking visuals and text that portrays the purpose of feminism and how it directly affects women in day-to-day life.
Infographics that educate viewers on the effects and benefits of feminism for women/ how to be a feminist in modern society.
Allows me to further develop my graphic design skills to create a series of posters that are purposeful and educational to young women.
Illustration
Illustrations that communicate the importance of self love and acceptance in young girls that may be affected by sexism and misogyny.
Multiple illustrations visualising the beauty and empowerment of femininity.
Showcasing the importance of diversity and representation in regards to women's rights.
Helping young girls, specifically WOC, deconstruct the stereotypes and masculinisation of south asian/ black women in the media.
Enables me to strengthen my illustration abilities as it is something I would like to explore as a career; creating illustrations will help me navigate the specific area of illustration I enjoy most. I would be able to create meaningful pieces using a creative format I am experienced in.
Animation
Animation that is comprised of symbolic and emotive imagery that resonates with young girls.
Animation that empowers young girls to embrace their femininity and disregard the negative connotations that society has labeled feminism/ femininity
30 Second/1 minute animation visualising how misogyny/ sexism affects young girls.
Animation comprised of artsy visuals that symbolise the beauty and meaning of femininity in a lively manner to cater to young girls.
Creating an animation will provide me with the ability to develop both my illustration skills as well as my animating abilities as it is an area that I would like to strengthen for potential future careers. The animation will challenge my abilities as an illustrator to conjure up enthralling concepts that engage young women and girls.
