Specific Phobia:
Diagnostic Criteria: Marked fear or anxiety about a specific object or situation, avoidance, immediate fear response. 6 months. (Animal, Natural environment, Blood-injection-injury, Situational).
Etiology: Traumatic experience, conditioning, genetic vulnerability.
Top Comorbidities: Other anxiety disorders, mood disorders.
Onset: 10 years of age.
Treatment: Exposure & Response prevention (Flooding, immediate expose) (Graded, gradually expose) (Vivo or imagination), Vivo more effective than imagination. Acrophobia (fear of heights)
