Biomes of the World
Taiga
Taiga is the largest land biome in the world. It is made up of mainly conical-shaped evergreen trees with needle-like leaves.
La taiga tiene inviernos largos y fríos, en los que la mayoría de los mamíferos hibernan y las aves emigran o abandonan la zona porque los inviernos son demasiado fríos para quedarse.
Animals like weasels, grouse and rabbits that do not migrate or hibernate grow dense feathers or fur and turn white to match the snow.

Tundra
The Tundra has a wide variety of animal species, such as arctic foxes, polar bears, gray wolves, caribou, snow geese and musk oxen.
-
Tundra is noted for its icy landscapes, extremely low temperatures, low precipitation, few nutrients and short growing seasons.
-
Marine
This aquatic biome is the largest in the world, as it includes the five great oceans that cover 70% of the Earth.
The seawater has high levels of salt, so the animals and plants that live here have adaptations that help them get rid of salt or drink water.
The temperature of the sea or ocean is a very important physical property. The average ocean surface temperature is 17ºC (62.6ºF).

Temperate Forest
-
-
In these forests there are deer, woodpeckers and bears, some of which hibernate during the winter.
-
Tropical Rainforest
-
-
These types of forests have an average temperature between 20-25 degrees Celsius, access to abundant sunlight throughout the year and frequent rainfall in most of their territories.
Many of these forests get so much rain that there isn't every much of a dry season – more like a rainy season and a rainier season.
