HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS
NERVOUS SYSTEM
This system sends messages back and forth between the brain and the body.
The brain is what controls all the body's functions. The spinal cord runs from the brain down through the back
What Is the Nervous System? The nervous system includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves.
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
The circulatory system (cardiovascular system) pumps blood from the heart to the lungs to get oxygen.
The heart then sends oxygenated blood through arteries to the rest of the body. The veins carry oxygen-poor blood back to the heart to start the circulation process over.
FUNCTIONS OF THE CIRCULARY SYSTEM
Circulates oxygen and removes Carbon Dioxide.
Provides cells with nutrients.
Removes the waste products of metabolism to the excretory organs for disposal.
Protects the body against disease and infection.
Clotting stops bleeding after injury.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
The respiratory system is the network of organs and tissues that help you breathe. It includes your airways, lungs and blood vessels.
The muscles that power your lungs are also part of the respiratory system. These parts work together to move oxygen throughout the body and clean out waste gases like carbon dioxide.
ORGANS OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Nose.
Mouth.
Throat (pharynx)
Voice box (larynx)
Windpipe (trachea)
Airways (bronchi)
Lungs.
MUSCULAR SYSTEM
The muscular system is composed of specialized cells called muscle fibers. Their predominant function is contractibility. Muscles, attached to bones or internal organs and blood vessels, are responsible for movement.
Nearly all movement in the body is the result of muscle contraction
The 5 main functions of the muscular system are movement, support, protection, heat generation, and blood circulation.
SKELTAL SYSTEM
The skeletal system is made up of the bones that give structure to the human body. Bones protect and support vital organs and work with muscles to help the body move. Bone marrow is the soft inner part of many bones of the body
The adult human skeleton usually consists of 206 named bones. These bones can be grouped in two divisions: axial skeleton and appendicular skeleton.
