Shows the government's priorities, message to the public.
Expected to be tapered off after this adjustment period due to rising inflation - should not be expecting "goodies" from the government

Importance of Governance
Efficiency: It needs to be repeatable, able to respond to changing external environment
Error visiblity: Equity should be enforced, focusing on transparency and visibility
Unity: Reach a consensus (whether between board members or the public) before a decision is implemented
-
Clarity: Clearly formed, vision and core - easily align to achieve a goal

Ezlink Leadership Case
Last March, the LTA announced that the EZ-Link and TransitLink SimplyGo mobile apps would be merged into a single platform. At the time, the authority said there would be no change to how commuters paid their fares. There was also no indication that older EZ-Link cards would be phased out.
New Law: From June 1, adult EZ-Link cards and NETS FlashPay cards can no longer be used on buses and trains, LTA said on Tuesday (Jan 9). → Transitioning all adult commuters to the SimplyGo platform
Rationale for change: Topping up multiple EZ-link cards using mobile app, blocking transactions if a card is misplaced, receiving notifications on fares and card balances Estimated 40 million will have to be spent to buy new hardware, maintain and operate older ticketing system Existing CBT system for adults reaching end of shelf life, hence had to decide whether to continue with system
Less than a month after the initial announcement to phase out the older ticketing system, LTA reversed its decision on Jan 22. Reason for reversal:
Public view: importance of being able to see the remaining fare in their card Decided that they should have consulted more widely and gathered views from a wider group of commuters

Possible Issues for exploration
Cultivating cultures of honesty in our social / work groups
Building / Acting for the collective good
Respecting others as equals / the rule of law / compromise for personal privilege
Question on ethics, accountability and effectiveness in domestic politics
Example of school rule to remove: (prep for workshop)
- Being able to choose how our budget works
- Coloured shoe laces
- Rule where high cut shoes are not allowed
- What is wrong with having permed hair
Strict, uncompromising stance towards corruption
Law as a social discipline
Combination of restrictive labour laws and the tripartite partnership - “Enforceable Benevolence” that has enabled Singapore to be one of the most competitive in the world
