Triggers of Stress caused through the use of Digital Technology
Try to juggle many different things even though they are comfortable using digital tech.
sleep is disturbed by having digital tech in the bedroom.

There's no time for themselves, just to relax.
Report misuse to relevant authority
Victims of CB or scams - often reluctant to report it due to embarrassment / are not sure who to inform. The authorities are supportive of both + if reported it can be prevented from happening again.

Speak to family and/or friends
Report it to teacher, manager, and/or human resources department
Regulating the use of Digital Tech
Choose to do more outdoor activities that aren't reliant on tech.
Limit amount of time spent on socail media. Avoid browsing aimlessly + only use it for a defined purpose. Once done, log off.
Set goals to read 10-30 pgs of an interesting book, complete a task or a phone call with someone before checking ur device.
Set yourself projects - Learning a new skill.
Turn off all digital devices in the bedroom before sleep.

Gaming Addiction - The compulsive playing of online games that can cause physical/mental issues.
The inability to stop playing online games for extended periods of time can have a
detrimental effect on health.
Online gaming can cause chemical changes in the brain, particularly to the reward Centre.
Research ahs shown that addiction can impact on: social life, view of the world,
life ambitions and prospects and general well being.
Display screen equipment (DSE) + workstation assessment
Incorrect use of DSE or poorly design/arranged workstations can result in pain in neck/shoulders,back,arms,writs and hands.
Emplyers have to comply with regulations + carry out regular workstation and DSE assessments to ensure no employee is at risk. Individulas may have specific requirements such as wrist + mouse rest.
Employees must by law:
Carry out DSE workstation assessments
Reduce reisks by ensuring that DSE users take regular breaks or do a different type of work for a period of time as a form of break from DSE
Reimburse the costs of DSE user eye tests
Provide employees with training and info
Suggested checklist for carrying out such risk assessments

Self exclusion
User removes themselves drom accessing activities such as online gambling + overuse of apps, websites + socail media
A user may ask a gambler provider to exclude them from gambling/using their site.
Could be between 6,12 months. It's a legal requirement that online gambling providers within UK offer this service
Online gambling organisations also allow spending limits to be set
Cyber bullying
Occurs on Social media, Text messaging apps, Instant messaging, online chats, Online forum, chat rooms, message boards, Email, Online gaming communities.
Effects: Damage online reputation and conerns.
Examples:
Sending emails, texts or instant messages to ppl with hurtful content.
Sending neutral messages which tell the recipient something that is unpleasant or unusual.
Bombarding someone to the point that they are being harassed.
Posting hurtful comments about people on social media.
Spreading rumours/gossip about someone online
making fun of someone during an online chat that includes other people.
constantly and deliberately attacking/killing an avatar or character during an online game.
Pretending to be someone else by creating a fake online profile.
Taking an embarrassing photo or video of someone and posting it online to share with others without the victim's consent.
Threatening someone online or in a text message.

Research has shown there is a link between social media and negative mental health.
Causes:- Social pressure to share content, comparing owns lifestyle & possessions with other curated content, advertisements form businesses.
Social anxiety disorder:- The fear of 'missing out', either by not being included / missing a social event. The anxiety is based on self esteem & the belief they have been forgotten about. This results in a person constantly checking their phone for posts / messages.
Eye strain
Computer Vison Syndrome (CVS)
Suffers are ppl who spend long periods of time using a computer system.
Symptoms include:
Headaches, difficulty with focusing, itchy-burning-watery eyes, dry eye, double and/or blurred vision, sensitivity to light (photophobia)
Repetetive strain injusry
Can be described as pain felt in the muscles, nerves and tendons caused by repetitive movement and overuse.
Areas it effects:
Forearms and elbows, wrists and hands, neck and shoulders
Symptoms can be mild/severe, and develop gradually over time.
Symptoms include:
Stiffness, throbbing, tingling/numbness, pain, aching or tenderness, weakness, cramp
Behavioural impacts

Carrying weapons
Addiction
Gambling
Contributing issues:
Secrecy: Online gambling can be kept secret.
Smartphones: Have numerous gambling apps that can be installed & can easily be linked to bank accounts. Encouraging impulse betting.
Free to play gambling apps: Do not need real money & are often programmed to be more favorable than pay sites.
Online accounts: Encouraged to setup an online account linked to their bank account.
Other factors to consider
Reduction of physical activity
Overuse of Digital Tech - we are less active in our socail/work environments leading to issues with obesity, weakness in the muscle, tendons and ligaments within the body.
Disturbed sleep patterns
Digital Tech emits a blue light that can interupt our natural sleep pattern. Also, having electronic devices in the bedrrom - we are more likely to stay awake using the devices.
Posture
Excessive use of Smartphones or Computers commonly cause the following issues:
Strain to muscle and ligaments of the spine and neck.
Nerve pain, headaches & arthritis.
Neck & spine being moved out of alignment by leaning over 30 to 40 degrees.
Lack of movement e.g. sat at a desk for 8hrs can also cause neck & spine issues/
