Electricity (1.1-1.3) - Coggle Diagram
Electricity (1.1-1.3)
Static charges are caused by the movement of electrons
Charging by Contact
Transfer of electricity with direct contact
Materials Affect Static Charging/Charge
Different materials give up/accept different amounts of electrons from different things.
Charging by Induction
The buildup of a charge without direct contact is called induction.
Charging by induction is when a material transfers energy to another without making direct contact
Charge polarization
The separation/movement of positive and negative charges.
A static charge is a buildup of electric charge in an object caused by the presence of many particles with the same charge.
Static charges have potential energy
Electric potential energy
Potential energy in a charged particle that is energy because of its position in an electric field.
Charge movement
When a charge moves, some of its electric potential energy is used in moving the charge and some of it can be used to do other work. (quote from the textbook)
Lightning
Large amounts of high energy static discharge of electricity, caused by storm cloud.
Electric charge is a property of matter
The space around a particle through which an electric charge can exrt this force is called an electric field.
Electric charge is a property that allows am object to exert an electric force on another object without touching it.
Materials affect charge movement
Superconductors
Superconductors are materials with practically no resistance at extremely low temperatures.
