Factors of Commonly Faced Inequalities
Disability
Many individuals with disabilities experience inequalities in the workplace, with some being denied job positions simply due to the fact that they have a disability, which takes away their right to a dignified workplace.
Many employees with disabilities experience adversaries such as having work hours taken from them, being denied of benefits, being demoted, and even being fired because of their disability.
Individuals with disabilities may experience verbal harrassment and taunting due to their differences.
Many different accommodations may need to be met for a person with a disability in work places and in education. Unfortunately, many individuals are not given these accommodations.
Individuals with disabilities are faced with many road blocks in healthcare, such as being denied the right to make decisions, a lack of information, and discriminatory practices.
In many school systems, children with disabilities are secluded to the special education classrooms and are denied class time in their general education classrooms with their other peers. They are often alienated by schools.
Gender
Forbes.come states, "The average woman earns just 82 cents for every dollar earned by a man. This disparity is even greater for women of color, with African American women earning just 60 cents and Latinas earning only 55 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men."
Gender roles are very common in modern society. Little girls are raised to cook, clean, and care for children, while little boys are taught to work and provide for their family. This creates a dynamic between the two that can feel very dehumanizing.
KFF.org states, "Among women and men ages 18-64 who have visited a health care provider in the past two years, 29% of women ages 18-64 report that their doctor had dismissed their concerns during that time, compared to 21% of men."
A blog post from concernusa.org quotes statistics from UNICEF, stating, "According to UNICEF, today, more than 700 million women were married before they turned 18. More than a third of them — about 250 million — were married before the age of 15. Compare that to 156 million boys married before the age of 18, and it’s clear that child marriage affects girls much more than it affects boys."
Studies show that young girls in schools are often praised solely for the appearance of their work, while boys are typically praised more for content. Beyond this, boys are often praised more in classrooms than girls altogether.
CDC.gov tells us that over half of women have experienced sexual violence that has involved physicality.
Religion
Many individuals who identify as members of a specific religious group experience verbal abuse and mockery for their beliefs.
Many individuals may be discriminated based on their religion in the workplace by their religious opinions and traditions being dismissed. This may mean that they may be required to work on scared dates, forced to remove importance accessories, or being refused to give accommodations based on religion.
Some individuals may experience discrimination in the form of being evicted or denied housing due to their religion.
Individuals with certain religions are stereotyped and criticized simply for being members of the religion and are ostracized by negative stigmas that society has created.
Ncib.nlm.hih.gov states, "27 % (95 % CI 22.82, 31.12) of students reported experiences of direct total religious discrimination with higher levels being reported by students identifying as a religious minority. "
By law, employers must accommodate employees with certain religious beliefs. Some of these accommodations may be made in clothing, accessories, and practices.
Social Class
Individuals who fall under the working class often have a lack of access to quality healthcare and nutrition.
According to studysmarter.co.uk, "At age 11, the average gap in scores between poorer and wealthier students is about 14%. This gap increases to about 22.5% at 19."
Those in the working class are 80% less likely to work professional jobs than those in the upper classes, according to studysmarter.co.uk.
Those in the working class get paid 17% less than their peers.
Statistically, those in the under class have a lower life expectancy rates than those in wealthier classes.
Those who are less fortunate tend to be more susceptible to marketing and advertisements for unhealthy habits, such as smoking and other life threatening activities due to their experiences and inequalities they have experienced.

There are many stereotypes facing different races and ethnicities, with some being labeled "trouble," "uneducated," and more.
There is clearly an income gap between races and ethnicities. Brookings.edu states, "On average, Black and Latino or Hispanic adults in their respective highest-earning trajectory groups earn between 68% to 75% of the average annual earnings of white adults in the highest-earning group. In the second-highest-earning groups, Black and Latino or Hispanic adults also consistently earn less than white adults."
Individuals classified under different ethnicities often experience very hurtful microaggressions.
Racism plays a huge role in many inequalities we see today. With the BLM movement gaining traction in 2020, many tragic events have taken place with police brutality and other forms of violence.
According to Apa.org, "Research shows that compared with white students, black students are more likely to be suspended or expelled, less likely to be placed in gifted programs and subject to lower expectations from their teachers."
Irp.wisc.edu states, "Black men with low education levels are at high risk for incarceration, much higher than white men with similar education levels."
