Include the following sections:
Introduction/ Background, (include statement of need)
Provide context and preliminary results for each aim
Aim/ hypothesis (optional)
Research design
Include: rationale/ hypothesis (occasionally required), experimental design analysis, expected results, alternative strategies (sometimes required).
Give the approach for each specific aim in detail and organize into subsections.
Specific aims
Should be listed and precise
Significance/ impact
End proposal with a broad impact statement.
Abstract
Include: background, unknown/ problem/ need, overall objective, general strategy, and significance/ impact.
First and last sentence are important!
Have a statement of need (sell the reader on your proposal).
Overall objective needs to be clear.
Additional Component:
Costs for the grant need to be realistic and justified to give the best chances for funding.
