Backing Up iPhone or iPad
Backup to iCloud
iCloud backups work over Wi-Fi connections, and you can back up over cellular if your device and carrier support this feature.
This is how it works?
In Settings, tap [your name] > iCloud
Tap iCloud Backup. > Backup Now
If your device leaves the Wi-Fi network, the backup process pauses until the device reconnects. If your device is compatible and Back Up Over Cellular is turned on, the backup may continue over your cellular network.
Once complete, you're all set! confirm the date and time that appears below Back Up Now
When you set up iCloud Backup, the device automatically backs up every day as long as you connect it to a network, connect it to a power source, and lock the screen.

iCloud backups don't include:
Data that you already store and sync in iCloud, like Contacts, Calendars, and Notes
Photos, if you turned on iCloud Photos
iMessages, text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages, if you sync messages with iCloud
Data stored in other cloud services, like Gmail and Exchange mail
Apple Mail data
Apple Pay information and settings
Face ID or Touch ID settings
iCloud Music Library and App Store content

Troubleshooting iCloud Backups
Back Up to a Mac
To back up iPhone or iPad manually, you can connect it to a
Mac
By
Step 1
Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.
Step 2
The “Allow accessory to connect” dialog appears.
Click Allow.
Step 3
Open Finder, then select your iPhone in the left sidebar below Locations. If asked to Trust iPhone, click Trust in the Finder window, tap Trust on your iPhone.
Step 4
Select “Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac,” then click Apply.
Side note
Creating a backup on your Mac automatically turns off iCloud backups. Remember to turn on iCloud backups again on your device if you want to continue backing it up using iCloud.
Step 5
If your iPhone backup process doesn’t start automatically after you enter the encryption password, click
Back Up Now.
All done!
Confirm the date and time of the “Last backup to this Mac” below Backups.
Another Side note
To encrypt your data, select the
“Encrypt local backup”
checkbox and create a memorable password; store the password somewhere safe, or save it in your login keychain. You can’t use the backup without this password.
How to backup on a PC
Step 1
On your Windows PC, open iTunes. If you don't have it on your PC, download iTunes.
Step 2
Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.

If asked for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer, follow steps
Step 3
Select the device in the righthand corner
Step 4
select Summary > Back up now>
