What is it?
iCloud saves and protects your data and provides services that include storage, backup, and file restoration. Using iCloud, you can access data from your other Apple devices no matter which device you used to originally store the data.
Requirements
Internet connection, and some iCloud features have minimum system requirements iCloud requires an Apple ID, an active internet connection, and up-to-date software. Also, if you meet the recommended system requirements, you can use the latest iCloud features and get the best experience.

Use your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac or approve authentication requests from your Mac, without entering a password.
Continuity Camera
Use your nearby iPhone or iPad to take a picture or scan a document, and it appears instantly on your Mac. You can also use your iPhone as a webcam on your Mac.
Continuity Markup
You can use Markup tools and Apple Pencil on an iPad to write and draw on a nearby iPhone or iPad after editing a PDF or image on your Mac. Then you can quickly review the changes on your Mac.
AirPlay to Mac
Share, play, or present data on a Mac screen from another one of your Apple devices.
Continuity Sketch
Draw a sketch using your nearby iPhone or iPad, and the sketch appears instantly on your Mac.
Handoff
Start a document, an email, or a message on one device and pick up where you left off on another device. Handoff works with apps like Mail, Safari, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Instant Hotspot
Your Mac can connect to the internet using the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) when they’re within range of each other. No setup is required. Your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) automatically appears in the Wi‑Fi menu on your Mac. Then you choose the name of your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) to turn on your hotspot.
Phone Calls
When you want to make or answer a phone call, you don’t need your iPhone; you can use your Mac. You can start calls from FaceTime, Contacts, Safari, Mail, Maps, Spotlight, and many other apps. When someone calls you, a notification appears. Click the notification to answer.
Sidecar
When you use your iPad as a second display, you can have your iPad show the same apps and windows as your Mac, or extend your workspace by showing different apps and windows.
Text Message Forwarding
Send and receive SMS and MMS text messages from your Mac. When users send you text messages, you can respond from whichever device is closest. The messages that appear on your iPhone appear on your Mac too.
Universal Clipboard
Copy data on one Apple device and then paste it on another Apple device. For example, you can copy a convention agenda from Safari on your Mac, then paste it into Notes on your nearby iPhone.
Universal Control
When your Mac is near another Mac or iPad, you can use a single keyboard and trackpad, or a connected mouse, to work across the devices. You can drag data between them. For example, you can sketch a drawing with Apple Pencil on iPad, then drag it to your Mac to drop into a Keynote presentation.
