        Afghanistan is majorly prone to violent earthquakes with the most recent being last October (Oct, 7th 2023). This lead to major aid centers destroyed, 1,500 dead and 2,000 total injured. Humanitarian aid was and still is given to families directly affected by supplying food and shelter.
      - Floods
        
        Afghanistan is prone to large floods mainly in low-land lying regions especially during spring periods. A combination of both melting snow (increasing temperatures) and heavy rainfall are at fault for these floods. Major displacement has been seen in the past decade at cause of floods leading to many having to leave their homeland behind. Further impacting famine.
      - Droughts
        
        Droughts are occurring more and more often in Afghanistan. With less precipitation levels every year, farmers and civilians are forced to move out of regions in order to find arable land. Semi-arid expansion and climate change are at fault. Severe consequences for agriculture which directly affect Afghanistan's economy

    - - A weak private sector fuels most of Afghanistan's income sources through external and internal trade and imports of goods.
        
        Agriculture: Wheat, Rye, Maize, Nuts, and Poppy (illegal drugs used in heroin and opium) are the main sources of income for Afghanistan.
        
        International exportation is majorly restricted either because of conflict or infrastructure-related issues. The decades-long conflict resulted in roads leading outside of Afghanistan not being suitable anymore making the import/export sectors rely mainly on inland trading. Furthermore, more and more villages and rural communities are left stranded because of the same issue leading to more and more percentage of people living in hunger.

        How does this relate to famine?
        
        A low GDP Per Capita like in Afghanistan can often mean that there is none or limited resources to invest into modern technological advancements in Agriculture. This can make it very difficult for farmers to produce food for themselves and decrease productions to satisfy the population.

  - - - Attacks on the airport furthered this issue as less importation and exportation could be made. In just 2 weeks, the economy collapsed leaving many as a statistic of famine. "We have a lot of selling, but there are no sales" Prices have soared as vegetable prices have reached over 50% they're worth and petrol prices well over 75%.
      - Many rushed to banks to withdraw as much on-hand cash as possible before banks freezing, thus resulting in banks imposing a with drawl limit. Resulting in thousands to sell household items on the street

        How does this relate to famine?
        
        With unemployment rising in Afghanistan many don't have a source of income in order to buy goods and supply themselves or their family leading to increasing malnutrition and further issues related to the food-crisis.
      - The statistics above provide us with enough evidence to say that Afghanistan is struggling majorly with unemployment. From 1991 to 2023 unemployment rates increasing a total of 6.45%.
        
        What is the problem?
        
        Unemployment leads to less overall household income, limiting the ability for people to buy they're own goods to eat and feed they're family, Indirectly contributing to famine in Afghanistan.
        
        Furthermore, unemployment can heavily impact the agricultural sector. How? Well, without income individuals do not have the money to buy/invest into tools to grow and harvest crops leading to a decrease in overall agricultural productivity.
        
        With this, more and more families and individuals will want to migrate to have a better opportunity at finding a job and a stable source of income. This can further the issue of abandonment of perfectly arable land and further decrease agricultural production in a time of such high demand. Indirectly again, affecting famine rates in Afghanistan
