Circulatory System
-
Functions
The circulatory system serves several vital functions in the body. Its primary role is to move blood throughout the body.
It delivers oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to muscles, tissues, and organs, and removing waste products to maintain the health and function of the body's various components.
Additionally, the circulatory system helps regulate body temperature, forms blood clots to prevent excess blood loss, and carries cells and antibodies that fight infection.

Parts
The Heart
The heart is the main organ of the circulatory system, responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.
It is a muscular organ with four chambers: the right and left atria, and the right and left ventricles.

Arteries
Arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart to the rest of the body.
They are tube-like vessels that branch into smaller and smaller vessels, eventually reaching all parts of the body.
Veins

The pulmonary veins, which carry oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the hear

Blood
Blood is a specialized body fluid that plays a vital role in the circulatory system. It is composed of liquid and solids.
The solid part contains red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
The liquid part, called plasma, constitutes over half of the blood and is made of water, salts, and proteins.
