political crimes : corruption , fraud, censorship - typical in authoritarian regimes where critical voices of the state are silenced, corruption (PPE contracts awarded to Tory party donors)
crimes committed by security forces : genocide , torture, deaths in custody imprisonment without trial (guantanamo bay, George Floyd)
economic crimes : (hard to detect due to the importance of private companies in the economy) harmful economic actions by private companies who act on behalf of the state (govy. remains liable) e.g. cladding on Grenfell Tower
social and cultural crimes : institutional racism, segregation, refusal of human rights (illegality of homosexuality, segregation etc.)
as crime is a social construct and nations have the right to self govern it could be argued that some definitions are based off of western ideas
'crimes' are often legitimised based on need for action - Guantanamo Bay justified as necessary to fight the war on terror
