Loss of membership
All members
Can renounce it
By joining another band
On this list based on error, omission, falsehood
Convicted of 3 qualifying indictable offences in 10 years
2 Year Probationary Period

Full-members
Transferring from another band
Whose family are/were eligible to be members, but who are not
Had been a member but lost their membership
Only one parent is a parent who is a member/eligible member
During this period any non-probationary member can make an application to challenge their membership based on "not living up to the Responsibilities of RRFNs Members"
Based on the application the Membership Committee can: a) dismiss the application, b) extend the probationary period, and c) Remove the member
Conditional members
Permanent separation or ceasing to reside with Member spouse for 6+ months

Membership rights and responsibilities
Rights
Full members
Right to stand as candidate for the office of Chief and Council
The right to receive payments/financial rights pursuant to any agreement for the benefit of RRFNs;
Right to receive priority access to housing, services in accordance with RRFN policy in those service areas
All members
Right to vote at all elections and referenda held within the community (except members on probation period)
Practice the traditions of RRFNs
Live on reserve in accordance with housing policy
Be buried on the reserve
Obligations
Honor the traditional teachings and customs
Honour and comply with codes, laws and rules
Contribute to the preservation, resurgence and advancement of the cultural, political, spiritual, intellectual and linguistic traditions of RRFNs
Respect and take care of the children of RRFNs, and of the individuals, the land and the water within the traditional territory of RRFNs;
Maintain active ties with, and good relations within, the community of RRFNs.

Full application package is very straightforward

Transferring from another band
Required additional evidence
Three letters of support
Criminal, "other matters" affidavit
For those transferring bands A) evidence that your band will release you and B) affidavit renouncing membership
If only one parent is member, or relying on eligible family members then affidavit evidence setting out kinship is required

Step 1 - 50% + 1 of members at a community meeting agree to allow you to apply
Step 2 - complete the following within 6 months
Evidence of the vote
Statement of intent "why they want to be a member"

Knowledge of RRFN culture etc
Lifestyle inline with RRFN
Financial situation to show they can support themselves
Their relationship with RRFN
Renouncing membership in other band if applicable
