HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS
Nervous System
-
The nervous system includes the brain,
spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves.
Reception of general sensory information
(touch, pressure, temperature, pain, vibration)
Muscular System
-
The three main types of muscle
include skeletal, smooth and cardiac.
It permits movement of the body,
maintains posture, and circulates blood
throughout the body.
The 5 main functions of the
muscular system are movement,
support, protection, heat generation,
and blood circulation.
The integrated action of joints, bones, and skeletal muscles produces obvious movements such as walking and running.
-
-
It gives your body its shape, allows movement, makes blood cells, provides protection for your organs and stores minerals.
-
It is composed of around 270 bones at birth – this total decreases to around 206 bones by adulthood after some bones get fused together.
Circulatory System
The circulatory system (cardiovascular system) pumps blood from the heart to the lungs to get oxygen.
The heart, blood and blood vessels work together to service the cells of the body.
The blood circulatory system is a system of organs that includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood which is circulated throughout the entire body of a human or other vertebrate.
It includes the cardiovascular system, or vascular system, that consists of the heart and blood vessels.
Circulatory System Length is about 100,000 kms.
Digestive System
The function of the digestive system is to digest and absorb food and then excrete the waste products
Digestion involves the breakdown of food into smaller and smaller components, until they can be absorbed and assimilated into the body.
The human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion.
The digestive system breaks down food into simple nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
The digestive system is a long, twisting tube that starts at the mouth and goes through the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and ends at the anus.
