Amblyopia - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Form deprivation or deprivational, visual image can't get to retina
    - - Refractive error -> Unique refractive errors are poorly tolerated, equal refractive are better tolerated
    - - Poor Aim, To make sense of visual world, images from eye must match up
      - Image do not match up when eyes are misaligned
      - Eye misalignment = Stabismus
      - The brain ignores visual input from eye that is not looking at intended visual target
  - - - Almost always preventable, early detection is key, life-threatening disorders may present as amblyopia
    - - Parental concerns, ocular FHx, Failed vision screening
      - Physical Examination (Red Reflex, Ocular alignment, visual acuity - Objection to occlusion, ability to maintain fixation, eye chart)
  - - - Early detection and treatment is very importnat
    - - Require a cyclopegic refraction to accurately determine refractive error
      - Full time spectacle wear is first-line treatment for refractive amblyopia
    - - Block the image = Occulsion Therapy
      - blur Image = Paralyze accomodation
