innovative aspects
One of the innovative aspect of the product is Incremental Innovation because it's small improvement over other notebook holders.

An innovative aspect of the construction process is sustainable manufacturing. Where i use the least energy on each product creation.
innovative aspect of my product is using different/material, because plywood and acrylic are not commonly used in hangers but rather polypropylene (PP) are generally used in stationary.
I'm using clear acrylic because its stronger and more durable than glass. It weights 50% less than glass, while being transparent like glass.

Function

The product will have a stretchable rim on the top. I will create this by glueing textile elastic band in between 3 mm plywood.

There are two separate parts to the project, the table hanger and notebook holder. So i'll construct it in a way that the table hanger ( innovative skills project ) will fit in the notebook holder.
Since this project is almost semester long, I can also make detachable pockets for any stationary.

The retractable part of the product might affect the durability of the product. So i'll make sure that part of the product is durable, and strong enough to endure daily use.
Target costumer
The target audience of my product is 8 - 60 years old because it's specifically targeted for people who need to keep a notebook

I'll create persona for my product, then focus on creating the best solution to my persona.

To deliver the best possible product for my target user I'll take several feedback sessions and improve the product based on the feedbacks gave.

People who like being sustainable, and try to have the least negative effect

Materials
I decided to use bamboo plywood because it's harder than hardwood and it's fully recycable, which meets my sustainability goal of this project

I will use super glue to connect the joint of my parts as it forms excellent tensile strength plus it's compatible with almost any material.

I will use clear acrylic since it's endlessly recyclable while without ever losing it's peculiarity. But also to improve the aesthetics of the product.

Size

The thickness of the product is 65 mm. Adding the both thickness of notebooks and holder's materials.
So adding 3 mm of materials on both sides, thus leaving 5 mm to the both sides for easy access makes the width of the product 276 mm
Manufacturing

Since laser cutter is extremely precise, I can use that feature to create a dovetail like joint on the edges.

The tool i'll use are garnet paper, hot glue gun, super glue, disc sander
Safety
To ensure that the person using the product doesn't get injured I have to make sure that there's no sharp edges and malfunctions.

Cost

Time spent making the product increases price so I'll try to finish the product as fast as possible to keep the price.
My project's total price is 15$, but it also includes a function to hang from a table. Therefore my product has an average price of a notebook holder.

Main tool i'll use to construct my project is laser cutter, as it's precise and fast

Environment
I will make minimal waste during manufacturing by using 3 mm materials and laser cutting materials close to each other.

Using a durable material, will increase the longevity of the product.

I will make my product mostly out of recyclable materials. So most of the material can safely get recycled.
I will build the product using least energy so I'll have smaller contribution to air and water pollution.

I want to have to the least negative impact on the environment. Both in construction of the product, and the recycling process.
Aesthetics
Color
For the finish of the product I'll not use any colors, instead I'll use wood contioner wax to highlight the natural color of plywood

Brand Logo
For the logo on the product, I will laser engrave logo of a brain. And the inside of the logo will be filled with color

Pattern
Sequence of the materials will be bamboo plywood, super glue, clear acrylic
Theme
The theme of the product is sustainability, therefore i prefer staying with the natural colors.
