We do not have the closest relationship and often butt heads. My mom says its because we are so similar.

May be one of the reasons I can be so uptight. I always want to set the right example for him and it kills me when I fail to do so.

Music
The Avett Brothers
I grew up listening to The Avett Brothers with my mom in the car and their music has remained close to my heart.
They write of heartbreak and love but it is their melodies and distinct voices that sooth me whenever I listen.
Zach Bryan
Zach Bryan is my favorite musician of all time.
I discovered his music at a low point in my life and his storied way of songwriting helped me through it.
I have seen him in concert four times and they have all been some of the happiest times of my life.
The Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead has taught me to relax and not take things too seriously.
Their melodic jams are peaceful and always put me in a relaxed state of mind.
Concerts
Viewing live music has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. There's nothing I'd rather do than go to a good concert.
I've been to more than I can count and am rarely disappointed.
Going to concerts allows me to forget everything going on in my life and enjoy the present.
Friends
Stu
Stuart has been my best friend since third grade.
He has taught me the values of loyalty and what it means to be a good friend.
He has been by my side through thick and thin and I do not know what I'd do without him.
He has taught me not to care what others think with his badass and judgement free attitude
Macy
Macy has been my girlfriend for almost two years now.
She changed my life for the better and is always a joy to be around.
We go to different schools and although it is hard, it has made me a much more emotionally mature person. I used to worry about her nonstop but overtime I have realized that she is her own person and can take care of herself.
I do feel our relationship has made my life at school harder because sometimes it is harder to enjoy my time at school when I wish I was with her.
She has taught me compassion and trust and brightens my day whenever I see her.
Logan
Logan is my best friend at school.
He has taught me to take in the moment and not dwell on things I cannot control.
The many deep talks we have had at our apartment are some of the most beneficial I have had

I am from outside Charlottesville, Virginia
I grew up hiking and doing everything outside because that is all there was to do. This has contributed greatly to my love for nature and the outdoors.
I take pride in where I am from and am lucky to be from such a beautiful area.
This has made my standards for where I live in the future very specific. I don't need a big house or fancy city. I want to be able to see mountains.
Growing up outside Charlottesville has allowed me to appreciate nature.
JMU
Choosing to attend JMU is the best decision I've made.
This is where I have become the person I am, gained so many friends, and became independent
Harrisonburg is where I have grown and changed into my own person.
At JMU I do not have to conform to the standards of anyone else and can be me
The Lake
My family owns a house at Smith Mountain Lake and it is where I have spent most of my time over the summer since I was born.
Going to the lake brings me peace and allows me to connect with nature.
It is where I fell in love with fishing.
The lake is a nice getaway that I get to enjoy with my friends and family.
Sports
Football
I played football from seventh grade all the way through high school and hope to become a coach one day.
Football taught me to work hard and instilled both mental and physical toughness in me.
I use the lessons of toughness and discipline football taught me everyday.
Lacrosse
I played lacrosse for my whole childhood.
It taught me the importance of attention to detail and leadership.
It also gave me lifelong friendships and allowed me to give back to my community by coaching the sport.
-Lacrosse brought my brother and I closer together as well because it is the one sport we played together
