Via, Ella, and Miranda - Coggle Diagram
Via, Ella, and Miranda
Via and Miranda were friends in middle school, but Via doesn't want to be friend with her anymore.
"It was all a lie on my part, but I couldn't see sitting in a car with the new Miranda." pg. 95
Because Via didn't want to be friends with Miranda, she lied to Miranda that her mom will pick up her soon. If Via wanted to be friend Miranda, she would take Miranda's car to go home. However, since she felt she would be uncomfortable sitting in a car next to the new Miranda, she lied to Miranda.
"'So, is something going on with Miranda?" she asked. "Just that she's acting like a complete jerk," I said. pg. 101
Most people tell their parent everything they think about it. If Via wanted to be friend with Miranda, why would she call Miranda a jerk? Because Via thought Miranda didn't want to be friend with Miranda anymore, she called Miranda a 'complete jerk'".
"Miranda had almost always been the sweetest to August, hugging him and playing with him long after Ella." pg. 93
This illustrates that Via will really like about Miranda because Miranda was the only one in Via's friend who was kind and who was really friendly to August, so Via will think Miranda is a good girl and this shows that they have the memory of being friends. However, After Miranda changes, Via decides to not to be friends with her anymore. My opinion, I think Via still wants to be friends with Miranda because Miranda was really kind to August and Miranda and Via had good memories.
As they got older, they decided to be different people from each other.
"It wasn't just the way she looked that was different: she was acting differently, too." pg 94
Acting differently means Miranda changed her personality. However, this might cause other people, like Via to feel kind of surprised.
"We chatted online a bit, but she didn't give me a reason for not calling, which I thought it was dizarre. pg 93
When they were in middle school, they were the "best friend". they called and texted a lot too. However, when Miranda decided to be different, maybe she didn't want to show how she looked or how she changed to Via.
"Miranda looked so different: her hair was cut in this super-cute bob that she's dyed bright pink, of all things, and she was wearing a striped tube top that (a) seemed way inappropriate for school, and (b) was totally not her usual style." pg 94.
This evidence shows that Miranda did glow up or find her style during the break. On the first day of school, Miranda was different from middle school. Everything changed. She got her new hairstyle and clothes.
